Cookie Salad Recipe

cookie-salad-bowl

This Classic Cookie Salad recipe is made with Cool Whip, buttermilk, mandarin oranges, instant vanilla pudding and Fudge Striped Cookies. It’s the perfect dessert salad to bring to parties and the kids love it!

It’s ridiculously easy and everyone always loves it, especially the kids! It’s stuffed with juicy mandarin oranges and crunchy fudge striped cookies, plus light and fluffy from the Cool Whip!

This cookie salad is unique because it calls for buttermilk which gives a distinct and richer flavor than a typical fruit salad. Regular milk can be used if desired, or if that’s all you have on hand.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 small boxes instant vanilla pudding
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 small pineapple’s tidbits
  • 2 to 3 small mandarin oranges
  • 30 grams whipped topping defrosted
  • 16 Chocolate striped shortbread cookies crushed

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large mixing bowl whisk together buttermilk and pudding until the mixture is semi-smooth. Since there is a much lower milk ratio than normal it will not become totally smooth.
  2. Add defrosted whipped topping and stir well.
  3. Add fruits to the pudding mixture and stir well.
  4. Refrigerate for up to a day ahead of time before serving.
  5. Crush 16 to 20 fudge stripe cookies and mix together gently with the fruit salad an hour or two before serving.

You can assemble some of the ingredients ahead of time, but do not add the cookies, or they will get soggy. This salad is best made right before you need to serve. You can, of course, chill it in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
